Freaky Friday host Scott Lopez contacted me a couple of days ago to get my take on an interesting image he had found on social media coming from the Mars Rover. At first glance my eyes were drawn to a yellowish object near the centre of the image, however, the main area of interest was an interesting looking rock elsewhere in the image. The minute I seen it I was taken aback because it looked to me as if what i was seeing was an Egyptian style head lying on the Martian surface.
Scott then enhanced the image and sent me the following…
Even at first glance, its hard to get away from the fact that this looks distinctly Egyptian in nature. Moreover, it bares a striking resemblance to the head of the Sphinx on the Giza plateau!
We discuss this on the show extract provided with this article & we all agreed that this certainly doesnt appear to be any natural erosion, with a very precise semi-circle carved out of the chin, and what appears to be the jaw line exactly where it should be.
We talk about a phenomena called Pareidolia. Pareidolia is a type of apophenia, which is a more generalized term for seeing patterns in random data. Some common examples are seeing a likeness of Jesus in the clouds or an image of a man on the surface of the moon. We all agreed on the show that this is NOT an example of Pareidolia due to the undeniable similarity between the “face on Mars” & that of the Sphinx in Egypt.
This is not the first Mars-Egypt connection to be made. Richard C. Hoagland was the first researcher I heard talking about an area on Mars called Cydonia & the fact that there appeared to by pyramid like structures located there.

Another interesting connection between Mars & Egypt comes in the name of the Egyptian capitol, Cairo.
Well, Cairo’s official name is al-Qāhirah, which means literally: “Place or Camp of Mars“
